You ride west out of Syracuse onto a causeway with the Great Salt Lake on both sides and the light doing things light doesn't normally do, and arrive on an island where several hundred bison treat the road as a suggestion. It's not a technical ride — it's an *atmospheric* one: otherworldly water, antelope in the grass, the Wasatch stacked behind you like a postcard of itself. Sunset out here is the cheapest therapy in Davis County (state park fee applies). One warning delivered with love: in late spring the biting gnats will find you, and they are legion. Check the calendar. Respect the bison. Both are non-negotiable.
