The route

Farmington → The radar domes

Route line traced from OpenStreetMap — the real GPX drops when we ride it with the GoPro.

Element 01

The switchback stack

The lower canyon climbs fast — loose in spots, shaded, honest dirt.

Element 02

The ridgeline

Above the trees the road rides the crest — Great Salt Lake one side, Morgan Valley the other.

Element 03

The domes

9,547 feet. The whole valley at your feet and a legitimate excuse to just stand there a while.

GoPro run — in the queue

Every route on this guide gets ridden and filmed by the shop. This one hasn't had its camera day yet — it's on the Saturday list, and the footage drops right here when it happens.

The dossier

Why this road.

Those two white domes you've stared at from I-15 your whole life? There's a dirt road to them, it starts in Farmington, and it's open to the public. The Farmington Canyon road climbs 5,000 feet in eleven miles of switchbacks — rocky, occasionally rutted, absolutely worth it — to the FAA radar station at 9,547 feet, where the entire Wasatch Front lays out below you like a map of your own life. Lagoon's coasters look like toys. Your house is down there somewhere. Your lawn needs mowing. It can wait.

Machines for this ride

Dual sports, ADV, plated dirt bikes. This is the shop's home mountain — the test ride with a view.
